After His Heart

“ For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and holds us tightly, because we are convinced that He has given life for all of us. This means all died with Him, so that those who live should no longer live self-absorbed lives but lives that are poured out for Him – the One who died for us and now lives again. So, from now on, we refuse to evaluate people merely by their outward appearances. For that’s how we once viewed the Anointed One, but no longer do we see Him with limited human insight.”
We are so often quick to evaluate people or circumstances by external appearances that we miss the real heart of the matter. I believe this is what Paul is talking about in 2 Corinthians 5:16 when he says, “So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!”
Many of the people living in Jesus’ day missed the joy of His visitation because they judged Him from a human perspective. They failed to connect to the heart of Jesus and embrace His love because they wrongly judged what and who was in front of them!
The reality is that we are no better than the people of Jesus day. Our flesh naturally yields to the same temptations and pitfalls because we are just as broken and imperfect, and nothing we can do in our own strength will compensate for this human flaw. What’s the remedy to this weakness of our flesh?
The remedy lies in seeking the heart of God in every matter. God looks at the motives of the heart. Only His heart is entirely pure and true. Seeking God’s heart is the only gateway to true rest and freedom. From this place, obedience is rooted in love and honor for Him – we obey, we live in the light, we lay our lives down to stay connected to the main Source. We are called as His children to fix our eyes on Him, who is the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). This encounter renews, restores, and most importantly SUSTAINS us to live a life completely for Him. With a gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face, there flows our identity, our purpose, our reason to praise, our hope to persevere, and deep love for Him, ourselves, and others.
The life we are offered by the sacrifice of Jesus is one of deep relationship. That is what everything points back to. It’s all about knowing and embracing the heart of God. Knowing Christ’s heart and love FUELS our passion to live a life poured out for Him. If we are made in His image, bearing His image, the only place we can start is that place of pursuing after His heart just as He pursues ours (Acts 13:22, TPT).
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the main Source of love, thank You for being after my heart. I pray that I will always seek after Yours. Let everything else pale in comparison to Your presence in my life. Amen
