Name Above All Names

“I AM who I AM.”
I am fascinated by the words “I AM.”
It is probably the smallest statement in the Bible. However, there is a lot of power in the simplicity of it. In Exodus, 3:14, God says to Moses “I AM who I AM.” And He said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you”. I took a little deep dive into all the ways God is named.
The Great I AM.
Shepherd of my Soul.
Prince of Peace.
King of Glory.
Alpha and Omega.
Jehovah Jireh.
The Great Physician.
Lord of lords.
Adonai.
The list goes on!
Some days it's hard to grasp that all these “credentials” belong to the God I know, love, and serve. My fickle heart and mind stand in absolute awe that He is the Name above all names. We get to call out to all of these names and our cries make it to His ears! There is no greater comfort than knowing whatever circumstance we are in, He meets every single need. His character outshines in every good, bad, or hard thing. So call out to Him based on any of these “names.” He would love nothing more than to come close and rescue you!

Prayer
Lord, we thank You that at any point we can come and sit before You at Your feet and call on You. We give You all the glory and all the credit for your powerful and mighty ways. I pray, Holy Spirit, that You will cover us today with Your mighty hand of healing, provision, and daily bread. We love You, Lord! We cry out to our Prince of Peace today. Amen!

The things in my world, my house, land, and possessions, are so temporal. None of them will be my companion on the final ship out of here. Nothing I own can comfort my heart, fill me with peace, or rescue me in times of trouble. So, what am I afraid of? Sometimes, challenges come to reveal the true treasures of our heart and help us understand what’s truly important. God’s ability to prioritize is unique and revelatory. He sees both the intentions of our heart and the priorities.
