Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth
— Philippians 2:9-10

"So that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Thessalonians 1:12).

The past few years, the Lord has led me on a journey of uncovering the treasures hidden in the name of Jesus, and it has been a glorious experience. It has been an honor not only to unveil the mystery behind this powerful name but also to witness its transformative power. While there is much to explore, I hope that by the end of this devotion, you will ascribe the honor and reverence that the name of Jesus deserves.

This passage reveals that the name of Jesus is the most exalted of all names. God has given Jesus the highest honor, placing Him above all things. But why does this name carry such immense power? Names signify authority and identity. They reveal who stands behind a person. In biblical times, names were given to reflect a person’s purpose, function, and lineage. When we receive Jesus in our hearts, God grants us the privilege of not only being in union with Him but also of using His name, the most powerful name of all.

The Bible reveals specific signs that follow those who believe in the name of Jesus. In Mark 16:17, Jesus declares, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: in My name, they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues.” The name of Jesus is an invitation into a life filled with dominion and power.

We see this truth in Acts 3:1-16, where Peter and John encounter a man who had been lame from birth. After healing him, the people were astonished and expected Peter to reveal some profound secret behind his miraculous power. But Peter immediately clarified, “And His name, by faith in His name, has made this man strong whom you see and know; and the faith which is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all” (Acts 3:16).

While it is true that the name of Jesus carries great power, it is not a magic wand to be used only in times of need. The effectiveness of this name depends on the faith of the one who speaks it. The name of Jesus carries different levels of power in different people's mouths, depending on their belief and reverence for it.

So, is there a specific time, place, or way to use the name of Jesus? No. But this name will only work for those who truly believe in it and give it the honor it deserves. If we desire to see the results that the Bible speaks of, we must align ourselves with God's Word and believe in the power of the name of Jesus. Faith operates where the will of God is known. When we understand God's will and develop an intimate relationship with Jesus, we can confidently use His name and expect the outcome that Scripture promises.

The psalmist also testifies of victories that come through the name of the Lord. Psalm 20:7 states, “Some boast of chariots, and some of horses; but we boast of the name of the Lord our God.” It was not by weapons or human strength but by the power of God's name that victories were won. May we learn to trust in and exalt the name of Jesus, knowing that it carries unmatched power, authority, and glory.
