Abound: Emptied of Self, Filled with God
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8).
What would my life and yours look like if we were emptied of self, and filled with God? We would abound in every good work! When God used the word “Abound” (perisseuó in Greek) in 2 Corinthians 9:8, He wanted to convey that the riches of His mercy, grace, and blessings (for you) are to be over and above, exceed the ordinary, beyond the expected measure, all-around abundance or surplus, going further and surpassing…basically The More of God in all things. Why? To fulfill the good purpose for which He created you. God’s desire is to work so richly in you, that your very life and purpose are resplendent with His glory, and your faith walk is marked by the supernatural. If you are hungering for the More of His love, glorious presence, and transformational power, you are ready to step into the Biblical meaning of “abound”. Do you want to abound in God? Then we invite you to join us at the Abound Retreat.

Meet the Speakers
Jeremiah Castille
Jeremiah is a minister, speaker, teacher, and coach. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 1979–1982 and was on the last team coached by Bear Bryant. Growing up in a dysfunctional home filled with abuse, domestic violence and alcoholism, mentors were the direct result of Jeremiah Castille’s successes in life. Most notably, the legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant instilled discipline and leadership into Jeremiah’s life. Coach Bryant taught him that with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and integrity; he could do great things. Coach Bryant’s guidance and Jeremiah’s resolve led Jeremiah to numerous successes including, being selected the MVP in Coach Bryant’s last Liberty Bowl game. Castille was a pallbearer at Bryant's funeral on January 28, 1983.
Jeremiah played professional football with Tampa Bay and Denver. As a member of the Denver Broncos, he played in Super Bowl XXII between the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins. Throughout his professional career, Jeremiah’s purpose in life became clearer. His experiences led him to mentor, coach and encourage at-risk youth. In 1999, he and his wife Jean founded Jeremiah Castille Foundation, whose mission is based on Isaiah 61:1-4 is to preach good tidings to the poor, heal the broken hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, open prison doors to those who are bound and glorify the Lord through preaching.
Bob & Jahan Berns
Jahan’s Father, a military commander in Uganda was assassinated when she was just six years old. Following his death, Jahan’s family was robbed of everything, and they became destitute. Jahan was raised Muslim until her dramatic conversion to Christianity. Jahan migrated from Uganda to England, and finally to Birmingham, Alabama.
As a Mortgage Banking & Litigation attorney, Jahan practiced law at the law firm of Sirote & Permutt, in Birmingham, AL, until she took a job at the Chief Operating Officer for JH Israel and U.S. Israel Education Association.
Jahan is now in full-time ministry with Triumph of Hope, a non-profit she founded to ignite others with a love and passion for Jesus. She travels and speaks widely preaching the Gospel and sharing her inspirational story in both Christian and secular settings. Her heart is to bring hope, salvation, and deliverance to people that now struggle as hard as she once did.
Bob spent a good number of years working at a youth center teaching carpentry and farming to underprivileged kids from the projects in Illinois. Bob is a teacher by profession. He taught art at Huffman High school and Holy Family Christo Rey. He has a heart for teaching children and young students about the Lord.
Bob has ministered with Jahan for many years including overseas in Uganda. He was instrumental in helping to establish Psalm 91/Triumph of Hope; and is passionate about the overseas mission work in Uganda.
Chris Knight
Chris is a wonderful evangelist with a heart for the lost especially those struggling with addictions. Chris had a very tough childhood and young adult life. Battling with addiction, homelessness, and other difficult challenges, Jesus intervened in Chris’ life and saved him, and set him free from addiction. The Lord also filled him with a burning passion to preach the gospel, lead people to Jesus, and help people find freedom from addictions. Ten years ago, Chris opened his home and started taking in people who needed to get off drugs. He and his wife single-handedly started working with these people to get them off drugs. Simultaneous with that, Chris was preaching the gospel in Oneonta and wherever God would open doors.
Today, Chris and his wife Lisa Knight run an incredible Christian rehab ministry called the Refuge, as well as a business that employs the men and women who are being rescued from addiction through their ministry. As an evangelist, Chris continues to actively preach the gospel in churches, revival meetings, prisons and other restricted places.
