Deep Intimacy with the Father

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
— Jeremiah 29:12-13

Do you crave deep intimacy with the Lord?

What does it look like to go deeper with Jesus on a day-to-day basis? In the mundane? Whether you are changing diapers, on the way to work, cooking dinner, or working late at night — the living God wants you to commune with you in every moment.

God promises us in his word that when we seek him with all of our hearts, we will find him (Jeremiah 29:12-13). It took me several years to understand and embrace the idea of true fellowship with the Lord.

I am going to be real honest with you: I used to compartmentalize God. He was with me in the morning. He was with me at church. He was with me in my “quiet time,” but when I went to a party and wanted to let loose, he was “not” with me. I would act like he wasn’t there when I wanted to gossip or sin. I would ignore his presence. I would ignore his conviction. Oh, to be so caught up in my flesh, that I would ignore the presence of my Father who loves me so deeply. Do you find yourself ignoring the presence of God because of sin?

In Rick Joyner’s book, “The Final Quest,” he shows the intimacy that is available to us today through a vision and conversation with Jesus: “‘If you really desire to be even closer to Me than Paul was, you can. Some will want this, and they will want it badly enough to give themselves fully to it, laying aside anything that hinders their intimacy with Me. They will have what they seek.’

Are you willing to give yourself fully to Jesus? Are you willing to lay aside anything that hinders intimacy with the Father? The Holy Spirit led me to this very question for my own life. For many years, I was not willing, and I reaped the consequences of my actions. I missed out on deep intimacy with the Father.

We see the natural law of sowing and reaping through the planting and harvesting of crops. It's no different for our spiritual life. Paul writes:

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.Galatians 6:7-8

What does this mean as it relates to intimacy with the Father? What we sow, is what we reap. We see this in the physical world. For example, I love Slim’s Pizza. If I only eat Slim’s pizza, I will gain weight. I reap what I sow. I love slow mornings. If I snooze my alarm, I will miss my special morning time with the Lord. I reap what I sow.

Fellowship with the Lord is no different. If you seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, you will grow in greater intimacy (Matthew 6:33). If you read his word, you will grow in faith (Romans 10:17). If you spend time in oneness and prayer, you will grow in deeper intimacy (Luke 10:38-42).

It’s time to consecrate yourself to the Lord. He has exceedingly and abundantly more than you can ask or imagine. He is calling your name!

Worship: I Love Your Presence

Prayer

Lord, you alone are worthy. Your name is the name above all names. I repent for ignoring your presence. I repent for not listening to the Holy Spirit’s convictions. Show me how to fellowship with you. Show me how to grow in deeper intimacy with you. I surrender my life to you today. I surrender my will to you today. In Jesus name, amen.
