The Price Love Paid for You

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
— 2 Corinthians 5:21

Love is a person; His name is Jesus!

Love is a response to what you value, while value is the regard assigned to something or someone. Value is the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. What informs you determines your value system, and your value system will determine what you prioritize and how you live your life.

To love well as Christians, we must grasp the depths to which love went for us and understand how deeply we are loved. The Bible tells the story of a good Father who passionately loves His children, giving the most valuable possession of heaven to redeem us. Love paid a high price for us. This price provided for our spirit, soul, and body, making all provisions for us. Our only response is to believe in the powerful name of Jesus and become beneficiaries.

A high price had to be paid to atone for our sins. Jesus, by substitution, took what we deserved so we could obtain mercy. When humanity fell in the Garden, it separated us from a holy God. But because of His love, God gave His best gift: His own Son, so that we could be His garden. This love is so radical that He didn't wait for us to act right. While we were still sinners, He sent His Son to die for us.

At the cross, Jesus became everything our fallen nature could produce so that God’s wrath would fall on Him instead of us. You were the joy set before Jesus, even as He endured the most painful ordeal in history. God’s mind is full of you—good thoughts concerning you. Jesus boldly took our place, taking on our sin, punishment, guilt, shame, and sickness. He was condemned so we could walk free of condemnation. At the cross, He took all our poverty so that we could live abundantly.

He took all our blame so that we could become blameless. At the cross, He met the law’s requirements, so we are justified by faith, not by works. At the cross, we died with Christ and now live as the righteousness of God. We are now co-workers with Christ Jesus. And God Himself resides in us, a union with God forever. If you’re wondering how much God loves you, know that you are indescribably valuable—that’s why Jesus paid the ultimate price for your redemption.

With this truth, we understand our sufficiency is in Christ. We are called to restore the relationship between the lost and God. You can live fully, knowing that love traveled a profound path for you. The cross was not just about your sin; it was about your worth. Selah.

Worship: Because of Christ

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, Come into my heart. Forgive me of my sins. Wash me and cleanse me. I believe that You died and rose again and that You are coming back for me. Fill me with Your precious Holy Spirit and grant me a hunger for the things of God. I’m saved, I'm forgiven because I have Jesus in my heart.
