A Prayer for Labor Day

A Prayer to Pray on Labor Day

Lord Christ, as Americans celebrate Labor Day on the first day of September, I pray that we will remember Who we really labor for, Who we are actually serving. Help us Lord to remember to give You the glory for the many incredible accomplishments Americans have achieved over the years. Help us Holy Spirit to thank You for the ways You inspired, facilitated and provided the success in our endeavors, and continue to do.

Please forgive us Jesus, for the many times we have grieved the Holy Spirit by not being firm and steadfast, not always flourishing in the work of the Lord on earth as it is in Heaven, not doing more than enough in the service of the Lord, even though You have promised that our labor is not in vain, not futile, wasted or to no purpose. Please forgive us when we have chosen to allow the world to excel, lead, influence rather than us choosing to do so in Your strength and guidance.

On this Labor Day, and new month, thank You for Your promise that if we will turn to You if we are heavy-laden and overburdened by our work, our lives, You will ease, relieve and refresh us. Help us, Lord to take Your yoke, not the world’s yoke but Your yoke upon us, so that we can find rest, relief, ease for our souls. You are so gentle and humble dear Lord. You have promised that Your yoke is wholesome, useful, not harsh, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant. Your burden is light and easy to bear. What more could we ask for on this Labor Day, or starting this new month, than to come to You and be so blessed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
