A Prayer for Peace

A Prayer to Pray for Peace

“Keep turning your back on every sin, and make peace your life motto. Practice being at peace with everyone.” Psalm 34:14 TPT

When I read this passage in The Passion Translation, the footnote took the word peace to a whole new level.

Let’s pray these powerful scriptures together.

O Lord, chaos is trying to permeate our lives everyday. You are not the Lord of chaos, but of peace. Your very name, Jehovah Shalom means “The Lord is Peace” or “The Lord Is Our Peace,” - You are our God and our Peace.

Lord, thank You that You promised in John 14:27 that “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” So today Lord we are proclaiming Your peace over our homes, our nation of America, Israel, and the world.

We choose today to not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to let our requests be made known to You, Lord. We believe and trust that Your peace which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and our minds in Your name, Jesus.

We will not allow fear to rule over us because You have promised that You are with us and You never break Your promises. We will not be dismayed, for You are our God and You, Lord will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with You righteous right hand through all the chaos and turmoil we encounter, keeping us in Your perfect peace as we keep our minds, thoughts, will and emotions stayed on You, because we trust in You.

We will not neglect to pray for peace in Israel, for their sake, for ours and for the sake of the House of the Lord our God. If it’s important to You, Lord, it should be important to us.

Lord, we lift up Israel right now and ask for Your continued hedge of protection around Your land and Your people, who are our people too. Help us Lord to pray in agreement with Your plans and purposes for Your people, that You will give them a hope and a future. We pray for their prosperity, and their safety. Be their supernatural Iron Dome of protection, sending Your angel army to surround and protect them, their children and the land You gave them thousands of years ago. Protect the leaders of Israel, helping them to make right decisions for this tiny nation that You love. I pray that our love for Israel will deepen as well, Lord, because You have promised that those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed – we want our nation of the United States of America and our homes to be blessed, Lord and we want Israel to also be blessed.

We pray now You, the Lord of peace Himself, will grant us Your peace, the peace of Your kingdom at all times and in all ways, under all circumstances and conditions, whatever comes.

Footnote: Twice in this verse David used the Hebrew word shalom. This word means much more than “peace.” It means wholeness, wellness, well-being, safe, happy, friendly, favor, completeness, to make peace, peace offering, secure, to prosper, to be victorious, to be content, tranquil, quiet, and restful. So shalom is used to describe those of us who have been provided all that is needed to be whole and complete and break off all authority that would attempt to bind us to chaos.
