A Prayer to Pray on Memorial Day

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for another Memorial Day, a day to remember and honor those who have died in military service for America. Thank you for their lives and ultimate sacrifice; thank you Lord for freedom.

We pray today for their families, especially those who have experienced recent loss. May we reflect as well on the greatest ultimate sacrifice of Your Son Jesus. Let every day be a memorial day in our hearts; let us give you thanks everyday for the abundant life that is available in Christ Jesus (John 10:10).

We also thank you for the unofficial start of another summer season. Order our every step and stop in Your Word (Psalm 37:23). May Your Kingdom come and may Your will be done in and through our lives.

May You find us to be faithful and obedient soldiers.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
