Does God Still Answer by Fire? June 7-8, 2024 | Oneonta, AL Retreat
The world tends to write us off when we are broken and defeated. Not God. While Lisa Knight was terribly battling 20 years ago, God foresaw that she would one day live for His glory, and lead others to freedom. So, the Lord fought for her until He gloriously set her free from addiction and insecurity. Today, Lisa is one of the kindest and fiercest advocates for men and women overcoming addiction.
While walking through a big field one day, Lisa saw a vision of a tent full of women. The Holy Spirit whispered to her heart, “Bring women together. I will meet with them. I am the God who answers by Fire.” Lisa went to work on hosting a retreat titled, “The God Who Answers by Fire.” The culmination was that the women of Oneonta encountered a genuine move of God as the fire of the Lord fell. I was there as a speaker, along with Paula Phillips Wiggins. We witnessed God touch people in inexplicable ways. Does God still answer by fire? Is the Holy Spirit for today? Does the Holy Spirit’s fire and power set people free from addictions, fear, and all kinds of oppression? Yes, yes, and yes! Does the Holy Spirit use ordinary people like Lisa to help pull people out of the pit of despair? Affirmative. Can the Holy Spirit use you too? Of course. Just surrender to Him in love and humility.
Jesus — A Simple Solution to a Complicated Mess
“I was adopted- I hate my parents but they haven’t done anything but love me. What’s wrong with me?”
Year after the year, I had dreams of Jesus bringing me people with bleeding hearts. “Will you love my people? Will you pray for my loved ones?” I wasn’t ready and I didn’t feel prepared to deal with the pain I saw in my dreams. As the years went by, the Lord slowly wooed my heart, and prepared me do ministry. I finally accepted the Lord’s invitation and gave myself to a life of prayer and ministry to others.
While I felt equipped to deal with the aching hearts that the Lord sent my way, I wasn’t prepared for the deluge of prayer needs. “I was raped as a kid, and now I see demons, can you pray for me? “I hate myself for living in sin, can God ever forgive me?” “I was adopted- I hate my parents but they haven’t done anything but love me. What’s wrong with me?” “I have been living in paralyzing pain for the last decade, will Jesus ever heal me?”
The most heart-breaking requests for ministry were pouring in and we didn’t have the capacity to minister to each one; especially the ones that didn’t have adequate spiritual support- from Europe, Canada, Africa, and Australia. (We are so blessed to have so many spiritual resources here in America!) These desperate requests drove us to our knees as we cried out, “Lord please show us what to do!” And He did.
On June 1, we launched our “More Than Conquerors” weekly online prayer platform. We began to pray for people across the globe.
He alone can save, heal, deliver, and perform the miracles each person needs. We have been astounded at the response and the results of answered prayer from across the globe. To God be the glory!

God can do anything, and He can use anyone.
I wonder how many times we have missed God’s blessings because of objections to God’s timing, methods, or His choice of the vessel. Ask Balaam and his donkey (Numbers 22:21-35). You can take it to the bank: God can and will do anything, anytime, anywhere, and through anyone, after all, “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.” Psalm 115:3
So, we are learning more than ever that our job is to believe God, share His Word and pray for His people. The timing and nature of the results all belong to God. What we do know for sure is that the Lord loves His people. Deeply. He is always willing to stoop down and come alongside each one that calls to Him.
