Day 12: Discovering God’s Will
What an incredible promise— God will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will. Sounds too good to be true but it is true if you meet the condition— total commitment and trust of “your plans” to Him. This means full surrender.
Nothing will put a sharp edge on praying this verse and principle like combining it with fasting. In Derek Prince’s book, Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting, there is a powerful diagram which illustrates the relationship between fasting and the will of God.
“The whole triangle ABC represents the complete will of God for every believer. The truncated cone DBCE represents the area of God’s will that may be appropriated by prayer without fasting. The smaller shaded triangle ADE represents the area of God’s will that can be appropriated only by prayer and fasting combined…Many of God’s choicest provisions for His people lie within that top shaded triangle ADE.” Don’t miss out on “God’s ADE will” for your life through the discipline of regular fasting. “When you fast…” (Matthew 6:16).
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I truly do want all of You there is this side of heaven. I want to live and experience Your complete will for my life— the whole triangle. Forgive me for not always giving You my whole heart, for not fully surrendering everything to You, and for my previous lack of discipline with prayer and fasting. I so desire for my thoughts to be in line with Your will. Give me the strength to commit and trust everything to You. In Jesus’ name, amen!
