Day 16: Dependence on the Spirit
When walking out the Christian life, Derek Prince says, “No other power can enable us to live the kind of life that God requires of us as Christians. It cannot be done in our own will or in our own strength. It can only be done in dependence on the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the key to knowing how to release the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives so that we can do the things we could not do in our own strength.”
How do we release the power of the Holy Spirit? By crucifying our flesh, hungering for God, and surrendering our lives to Jesus Christ. When we fast, we are forced to depend on the Spirit to sustain us in everyday life. We open ourselves to the supernatural move of the Spirit, allowing us to live out the Christian life in a manner that transcends man’s ability.
True spiritual transformation can only be realized through surrender to His leading. Through fasting, prayer, and dependence on the Spirit, we are empowered to live lives that reflect the character and power of Christ.
Prayer
Lord, help me be dependent on your Spirit. Forgive me when I have fallen short and gone my own way. I surrender my life to you today. Holy Spirit, I ask that you would fill me today and give me fresh revelation of what it means to say in step with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
