Day 34: What God Delights In

Men boast in many things—titles, strength, wisdom, success. But God is not impressed by credentials. He isn’t drawn to charisma or resources. What moves God’s heart? What causes heaven to rejoice?

Humility. Understanding. Knowing Him.

Not just knowing about Him—but knowing Him. His nature. His heart. His ways. And not just knowing Him—but living in a way that reflects who He is—kind, just, and righteous.

This is what fasting opens in us. Not better performance, but a deeper relationship. As we strip back distractions and submit our appetites, we get a clearer vision. We begin to see what matters most: not that we are strong, but that we are surrendered. Not that we are impressive, but that we are known.

And here’s the staggering truth: God delights in doing you good. Not reluctantly. Not mechanically. With all His heart and soul. The God who made the galaxies rejoices—rejoices!—in blessing the man who seeks to know Him and walk in His ways.

So don’t boast in your discipline. Boast in the mercy of the God who draws near. Rejoice that you are known, loved, and planted with purpose.

Prayer

Father, I do not boast in what I’ve done, but in who You are. Thank You that You delight in kindness, justice, and righteousness. Help me reflect what delights You. Thank You for rejoicing over me and for planting me with all Your heart and soul. As this fast closes, let my soul remain open. Let my life be a quiet boast: “I know the Lord.” Amen.
