Day 6: Deliver us From Evil

We need to recognize the enemy, in order to overcome him. That said, we must be aware of the mistakes that C.S. Lewis describes in the Screwtape Letters. He says: “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils (demons). One is to disbelieve in their existence, the other is to believe, and to feel an unhealthy interest in them! They themselves are equally pleased by both errors, and they hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.”

Many Christians that have a biblical understanding of the existence of Satan the enemy and his demons, feel powerless against the attacks of evil. But why should we feel paralyzed and helpless when Christ promised us victory over Satan? God wants and expects us to overcome the powers of darkness – not only for the sake of personal victory, and for the liberation of other souls from the chains of Satan, but ultimately, and most importantly for His glory. See Colossians 2:15; Ephesians 1:20-23, 3:10; 1 John 3:8. Jesus fasted and overcame the enemy. So can we. Through fasting, prayer, the Word of God, and the powerful Blood of Jesus Christ, the Lord has equipped us with all the spiritual weapons we need to battle the enemy and become more than conquerors.

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, please deliver me and my loved ones from evil. Deliver our nation from the evil work of the enemy. Give believers everywhere victory over every diabolical plan of the enemy. We plead the powerful Blood of Jesus over our families and nation. Holy Spirit, as I fast and pray, please empower me as you did Jesus Christ so that I can defeat every attack of the enemy. Thank you for your mighty protection against all evil attacks. Amen
