Day 7: You Will Hear God’s Voice
God promised in Joel 2:28 that, “I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions” This promise was fulfilled at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon Jesus’ disciples. When the early church in Acts 13 set themselves to worship the Lord and fast, the Holy Spirit spoke and gave specific directions and guidance for His people. Please note: The Holy Spirit has not stopped speaking to this day. There are a people whom Almighty God always informs or enlightens regarding His plans and purposes. They are the kind that fast and pray to seek God’s face and hear His voice. When the heavens are as brass, has it ever occurred to you to fast and pray for the Lord to speak to you? In this golden age of human history, where God Himself dwells within you by the power of His Holy Spirit, should you settle for a docile relationship where you are content to go through life without hearing the wonderful voice of your Savior? May this time of fasting and prayer open you up to embracing and hearing the voice of God’s Holy Spirit.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you that you speak to us today through your precious Holy Spirit. During this time of prayer and fasting, please help me to lay aside all distractions that make it hard to hear your voice. As I fast, and give you my undivided attention, I ask you to remove the clutter from my soul so that I may hear your voice. Lord, I am open to your Spirit’s direction and counsel in all matters. I thank you in advance for speaking to me. Amen.
