Day 8: Biblical Fasting Draws You Closer to God

Whether you are a seasoned faster or have never fasted before, God will meet you wherever you are in your obedience. He is looking at the motive of your heart. Biblical fasting is about seeking more of God, not more from God. Obedience to the Word brings about more benefits than you can possibly imagine. God has set it up that way; when you sow obedience you will reap blessings (Galatians 6:7).

Last week you read that fasting is the number one way to “afflict” or humble your soul. “He must increase; I must decrease” (John 3:30, emphasis added). Fasting is “John 3:30 on steroids”! It has been said that prayer and fasting are inseparable twins designed by God to draw you quietly into His presence. Fasting truly draws you closer to Jesus. This week we will explore together just a few of the other benefits of Biblical fasting, designed by God to release His supernatural power into our everyday lives. You don’t want to miss a single day as He has so much more to say in this special fasting season. Thanks for joining us on this faith adventure. We can’t wait to hear the testimonies of His faithfulness to this simple act of obedience. Thank you Jesus!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for promising to draw near to me as I draw near to you. Forgive me for the times that I have wanted more from You than of You. As I choose obedience by prayer and fasting, help me discipline myself to sit quietly in Your presence, to read Your alive Word while listening for Your still small voice. Thank you for Your love and faithfulness.
