Day 9: God’s Chosen Fast - A Key to Unlock Doors

Take a look at an excerpt from Arthur Wallis’s book God’s Chosen Fast, “Fasting is important—more important, perhaps than many of us have supposed. For all that, it is not a major biblical doctrine, a foundation stone of the faith, or a panacea for every spiritual ill. Nevertheless, when exercised with a pure heart and a right motive, fasting may provide us with a key to unlock doors where other keys have failed; a window opening up new horizons in the unseen world; a spiritual weapon of God’s providing, ‘mighty, to the pulling down of strongholds.’ God reminds His people that the acceptable fast is the one He has chosen. Fasting, like prayer, must be God-initiated and God ordained if it is to be effective.”

May God use this season in our lives to open up our eyes to “the more” we have in Him, especially as it relates to prayer and fasting. May we heed the words of Jesus’ mother to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you” (John 2:5).

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for providing me with this supernatural key called prayer and fasting to unlock doors that have shut for quite awhile. Forgive me for my previous impatience and disobedience. I surrender each and every circumstance that occupies space in my mind. I choose today to fix my eyes on You, to use your spiritual weapons, and most of all to trust You and You alone. I love and praise You Jesus. Amen.
